Squeaks & Screeches
Friction Rubber - Squeaks & Screeches delivers the raw visceral sound of rubber under high-intensity resistance.
These high-pitched textures are perfect for layering terrifying creature vocalisations, monster roars, ice cracking, vehicle wheel spins, skids and more.
What's Included?
A curated collection of Rubber Friction Sound Effects, including:
Sharp squeals, stuttering scrapes, intense shrieks, quick chirps, ear ringing screeches, rubber squashing and handling, high pitch cackles.

Sounds vs Files
Instead of hundreds of files, this library uses "string-based" audio files, meaning:
- Multiple sound variations are embedded in each file
- Faster browsing in tools like Soundly
- Easier layering and iteration
So you spend less time searching, and more time designing.

Behind the Scenes
About the Props
On my quest to record all the weird props I find in the garage, this library combines three unlikely to meet objects. A small hot water bottle and two types of bathroom tiles.
You might spot a hot water bottle inside foley studios as it's a classic prop for creating vehicle tyre screeches. But it also produces fantastic ear piercing sounds for creature vocalisations, ice cracking and more.
Performance
To create dynamic textures I experimented with stutters, groans, high pitch wails and jitters, knowing I'd be pitch shifting and slowing them down in post.
There were 2 recording locations for this library. 1 in a small studio environment for super crisp isolated recordings and 1 in a small bathroom which offers some interesting resonances.
Editing
These sounds have been recorded at a high sample rate of 192kHz and because of that, I'd recommend experimenting with pitch shifting and time stretching as the high sample rate retains a lot of the high frequencies.
Both the high and low frequency textures I recorded were useful for layering in sound design as they blended together really well together.
